I had the same issue. Engine fault light came on. Then warning light to Stop the vehicle. Engine has been guzzling oil. Dealers couldn't work out the problem. Told today that I need a new engine.
All of these happened immediately after they changed the timing belt (under warranty) and gave the car a full service.
It worked perfectly before that.
Waiting to hear if they'll foot the bill but I'm deeply suspicious of the timing !!

Did your grandland need a new engine? I've had the same issues with mine.
They replaced the wet belt with oil pump & other bits a year ago under warranty then yesterday the oil pump has a fault (confirmed via RAC)
Vauxhall won't accept it into the dealership til Wednesday
