Hi all. Was driving normally and suddenly heard a ping and lost power. Car in limp mode and engine fault requires repair symbol. I put an OBD2 scan on it and it came up P246B. I erased this. Restarted engine. Same fault came up on scanner again. Any ideas?

Quick Google search and this comes up, at the bottom is the Grandland X link (my work laptop wont let me select this)

Thanks Valer. But it’s a petrol engine. It has a GPF filter but we do 20 mile journeys at high speed 8 or 9 times a week so no short trips in traffic.

It’s an automatic transmission by the way.

I wondered which was incorrect, your engine type or the fault code you read, now we know lol
tbh gpf's don't give much trouble at all so i reckon you'll have to wait until your garage can get a pro scanner on it

Thanks again. Just checked under bonnet with ignition on but engine not running and there is a faint squealing noise and the cooling water looks blackish. There is also a slight mechanical noise as if a component is trying to do something.
