Hi all,

So it all started when my car went into limp mode, a warning message appeared saying Engine Fault: Repair need. I managed to get home and my son in law (mechanic) hooked up his diagnostic machine.

It came up with fault code P246B (DPF fault).
Now the issue is that it is a petrol car!
I’m aware that the wet belt is in need of a change but what’s the deal with the DPF??

I’ve got an independent Vauxhall specialist coming to look at it. (Vauxhall use him when they don’t know what the issue is).

I’m not very car savvy so any ideas would be appreciated.

Olá,
Well, in my humble opinion, all this alarm is basically a call for revision. It appears well in advance... If it's a nuisance, I suggest deleting that warning (our friend google shows you how to do it!).
Good luck ;)

Just an update.
I had an independent Vauxhall Specialist look at my car and he advised that a pressure sensor was faulty and to get my mechanic to change the wet belt and the sensor.
All was changed but the fault comes back within 20 secs after being cleared.
The specialist has now suggested an ECU update!
The only other thing I could possibly change is the catalytic converter/particulate filter assembly.
Any other ideas??
I just want to get the car back on the road so I can sell it to get rid!!! In all my life I’ve never had such a shit car!!

Hi. If you look back at P246B fault post that I did last year you will see the trouble I had. Car was in dealership for 4 months. In the end it was the Catalytic converter assembly.

By the way. Is your car an automatic transmission?

No it’s a manual.

Ok. Mine is an automatic so that’s irrelevant. I think these engines burn a bit of oil and it may be that which damages the particulate filter. I change mine every 6K now.

Cars all sorted finally, changed the wet belt and a pressure sensor and the fault was still showing so ended up having an ECU update which has cleared the fault.
Car is running like a dream again…
