Hi

I have a 2020 Hybrid 4 Ultimate Nav and it says it has a heated front windscreen and indeed there is a button for a heated windscreen, with a symbol on it like it shows in the manual, and when I press it, the thing illuminates.

However I am a bit confused as when I switch it on in the icy conditions, the screen just doesn't clear apart from where the thicker elements are down the left side of the screen. That 2 inch strip clears almost immediately, but the rest doesn't until the blowers sort it out.

Is the screen supposed to do that or is there something wrong with it? My previous car was a Kuga and the elements in the front screen were easily visible in some light conditions, on the Grandland, the only visible elements are the ones on the left that clear the strip almost immediately.

I'd be very grateful for any insight, advice and help.

Thanks

David

I think that it only heats the area where the wipers park. I find that the demist/defrost button (labelled "MAX") does the job quite quickly. However, my Hybrid4 uses the high voltage battery to provide heat immediately and it will take longer if you rely on the engine for heat.

Hi Dave123

You have a faulty windscreen heating element. The only way to resolve this is for the windscreen to be replaced.
It should clear both sides and the only bit that doesnt clear is a thin strip the middle of the windscreen.

Hello Dave 123,
I have a 21 plate Elite Nav 1.2 turbo and my screen clears over the entire width where the elements can be seen.

I agree with GRANDLANDX68 that your screen is probably faulty. Are there any stone chips that may have broken the element? I would recommend paying any glass excess on the insurance (if you have to) and get a replacement fitted.
