Hi, new member!
I've just bought but not collected and can be cancelled a 2018 Grandland X Elite Nav 1.2T with 65000 miles on it. I came on the forum to read about the Grandland X and im now panicking I've made a big mistake after reading this. AK18FHL is the reg and I'm buying from Cinch so what's peoples opinion on this ? I collect the car on Wednesday 9th Oct and only signed the finance docs yesterday. It's a stunning looking car with a great spec but ì really need some advice from Grandland X owners on what I should do.
Thanks in advance

I have the same issue with this. Took my car in last Thursday for engine oil fault, was advised on Friday it was just a timing belt that needed replacing. I asked if there was any damage to the engine, then I was advised a technician would need to investigate that (assumed they would've anyway!), then I was contacted earlier today saying the engine is knackered and needs a full replacement.
I was told the engine would be £10,000, plus £600-700 to strip the engine down + £168 for diagnostic and I am also guessing they would add the £840 for timing belt replacement too. Total cost = £11,708. I owe £13k on it on PCP, this is insane.
Unfortunately, I bought the car in May 2023, done 17000 miles on it since, but didn't get it serviced August 2023 as they were telling me it would be £500. Simply didn't have the money at the time. I feel so let down and trapped, I am stuck now paying for a car I cannot use and cannot afford to fix (even if I could afford to fix I wouldn't, as 11.7k is ridiculous considering the car isn't even worth that).
My options are to complain to Vauxhall customer service and pray they can help, or find a second hand engine to fit and shell out 3-4k then sell up, and probably pay another couple of thousand to clear the negative equity. I am so devastated and truly lost...
I am just appauled that after 17000 miles the engine has been so badly damaged that my only option is to replace the entire thing. I have only had it 15 months, not even halfway through my PCP contract and being told I need to spend another 11.7k to fix everything. Utterly devastating...
This is Lookers Vauxhall by the way, not sure where they are getting their figures from. Never thought the 1.2 Puretechs could go for 10 grand new.

I’ve got a 68 plate sports Nav which has done 59k and is displaying symptoms of a wet belt fault How can I find out if this model was in the recall group and either remedial action taken or maybe it was “ missed” by the system
Thanks
Thanks

Hi all please help!
So I have been aware of this issue for a while after getting an oil level low amber warning a while ago.
Today while driving I got a red warning “oil pressure too low please stop vehicle”
It went away after I stopped and started the car. I then topped up with oil that I had 0W/20
I have called my local Vauxhall Arnold Clark and they can’t look at my car for 2 weeks and have told me diagnosed tests will be £165. I did advise I was aware of this being an issue.
I’m now worried sick and don’t know what to do. I don’t have the energy to have a full war to get my car fixed I feel physically sick. I know I’m just assuming it’s the belt but at this point and from all I have read I am 99% sure that’s what they will say.

I'm in a similar situation as the poster above.
Had the timing belt replaced October 2023 after the recall - however a year on I got the red warnings and 'oil pressure low' message.
Had to wait 2 weeks for the dealer to have a look, debris had leaked into parts of the engine but was caught early enough to fix and only cost £400.
I'm wondering if I go back and ask Vauxhall to cover this since it's obviously related to the belt, and they didn't clear away the debris as part of the recall. Is this going to go on with a clear-out needed every year?
Before it gets to that stage I might try to get rid and see if I can find something else more reliable.
edit: my car is a 1.2ltr turbo 18 plate. around 45k miles at the recall last year, getting close to 60k now.
