How many miles have you done so far to need the cambelt changing? :o

Recommendation to change the timing belt/cam belt is 80k miles or 6 years.

Only 4000 but looking to the future found the answer to the cam belt replacement .80000miles or 72 months a Vauxhall technician told me it take 12hours to change which is charged at £70 per hour (which is warranty rate)which works out at £840 +£168 vat=£1008 plus cam belt kit which seems to vary but is around £150 this make a bill of around of about £1200 you don’t get told this when you buy the car and I certainly won’t be keeping mine for many years going Back to Hyundai or Honda I think. This engine also goes in the new Astra 8 hours to fit! and the new Mokka when it comes out.going to be an expensive time when there second or third owners .Shame really this isn’t a bad car at all goes well tows well very quiet well laid out inside and practical.

If you do some research to change the cam belt the engine has to be removed that where the huge price comes from .Fords eco engine is the same a Fiesta takes 8 hours to change .these belts run inside the engine like a chain not on the outside which was easier to chain. As a former Vauxhall techincan I find this a dumb idea as a chain lasts longer and very rarely needs changing. The fiestas only have to be changed at 100000 miles.By that time the car is worth less than the price of the car.

It might say it on the menu but go into the dealer and they tell a different story .This needs changing as to stop confusion.Would be good if it was the price .

If you book it through the website as I am saying, it's a fixed cost. They can not charge you any more than that. I do it every year with my servicing on all the Vauxhalls I have owned. Just book it through the vauxhall website.
