Humming noise

Hi I have an issue with my Grandland. When I first drive my car especially when engine is cold and I put it in gear as soon as I go to pull away on the biting point I get s sudden sort of humming noise coming from the front of the car and it is even louder when in reverse and when the engine is warm it does not do it. Am hoping someone may of had a similar issue and can pinpoint the issue.
