Hi Matt. If it helps, I have a June 2018 Grandland X sport and until recently I was unable to use the Vauxhall mobile app (to check fuel consumption etc). However after installing the latest update myself from a USB stick (available below), the app suddenly started to work and the infotainment system has performed better, as well as having the temperature display more visible.

Register your car at My Vauxhall (https://my.vauxhall.co.uk/Landing) and once you've done that, use the instructions below.

To update your navigation system use the "VAUXHALL Update" application. This app prepares the USB key that you will need to use in your vehicle.

If you have previously downloaded the app, simply open it and start downloading the update.

If you have not yet downloaded the app, download it now via the URL below:
For Windows : https://my.vauxhall.co.uk/downloads/map ... update.exe
For MAC : https://my.vauxhall.co.uk/downloads/map ... update.dmg

Make sure that the app is downloaded and saved directly on the hard drive of your computer and not on an external drive connected by USB.

You must have administrator rights on the computer and a good internet connection.

You can also use the 'old method' where you have to download the file on your computer, decompress it, save it on a USB key (minimum size of 16 GB) then install it via the touch screen of your vehicle.

I found a download for the earlier version here https://www.pentagon-group.co.uk/vauxha ... ap-updates

Regards

Oh and make sure the engine is running whilst you do any updates! Otherwise the infotainment system will shut off during the update, which could cause no end of problems.

The firmware update takes quite a long time, I think almost an hour. I also updated the maps and that took a similar time! Once you get the mobile app to work and connect to your Grandland, as well as tracking your driving (when it works!) it will also alert you if any new updates are released for either the maps or firmware. The app is a bit flaky though on the mobile phone. It tends to freeze up if you use CarPlay at the same time, or if you don't restart it before subsequent journeys. You also tend to have to open the app before you start your journey to ensure it connects to the car.
