So I had this number call me from Germany... who do I know there?

On Star!

So it turns out I'd had free WiFi on the car already which was a fluke...but it stopped. But now I get more free WiFi as an apology for the official WiFi trial not starting properly.... who could refuse?

So yes, as of 20 Feb Onstar took over the onboard WiFi plans from Vodafone... so any changes to the tariffs? I was quoted the current Vodafone tariffs so I couldn't resist but ask... will there be anymore options? A coy Onstar agent said they couldn't confirm yes or no.... but it was likely they thought at the time.

So I live in hope when my trial ends that there might be a better selection. Data usage can be tracked via the Onstar app which is handy.

So I'm in the free trial and on a 80 minute journey we used nearly 1gb between the three of us.

Gulp. I'm gonna need a better plan!

So I've had a quick reccy and found these alternative in car wifi offerings... has anyone experienced them at all? It would mean a disabled Onstar after the free year but....I suppose the OnStars advantage is that its more like a pay as you go rather than a monthly commitment...?

What are the On-star data plans? Have you been given any options by them as you posted a while ago that the data plans are no longer controlled by Vodafone but direct from On-star. Interested in seeing the answer to this as I'm now 4 weeks into my wait for my Grandland.

I have to use up my 3gb free trial first apparently so I was told, and then the magic curtains open in an email to reveal the data tariffs.... I wonder what they will be... I bet they don't change them.

So I'm just about to use all the data on the free trial... you have to use 100% of the data from the free trial before you can buy an actual data package.

And the new data packages are..... (drum roll....).

Exactly the same as Vodafone used to offer.

So I guess I'll be going for the 1 year 50gb data plan, still at £100.

Ho hum, I do love innovation and an extensive customer offering!!
