Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a bit of advice please.
I have a Vauxhall Grandland X 2019 Auto and last week an Amber warning started showing up on the dash once the ignition is turned on with the message: Engine fault: repair needed.
I called my usual garage and managed to book a spot and they had a look and said they couldn’t speak to the car with the diagnostic tools they had which covers 2018 onwards. They checked the engine and everything else and said nothing stands out so we should go to Vauxhall garage.
I booked an appointment for a week later at a Vauxhall garage (which held today) after spending the whole day in the garage as this was a different city, I was just told that they found the fault (The Lambda Sensor needs changing) but they do not have the right spec in stock so it could not be fixed.
They asked if I wanted to place an order for the part which is £300 but I said not today. The hourly fee is £149/hr at this garage and they spent over 3 hours and then gave me this news, I’m really devastated because at this time of year, my family relies a lot of this car for a lot having very young children.
I checked online and this part costs £50 or less, what are my options please. I was not expecting this car to give issues just yet as we went for reliability especially with full service yearly plus other services every 3-6 months.
I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you
