I once had some great advice from a lawyer about resolving this sort of issue. You write, recorded delivery, to the head of the company's legal department, setting out the facts and letting them know that unless the matter is resolved within seven days, you will be taking action against them. The problem with emails is that they tend to be ignored whilst a letter, sent through the post and signed for, is more often than not, acted on. Administrators, managers and sales staff will do nothing, but the legal department know they could be in real trouble if they don't

VAUXHALL CROSSLAND X ENGINE FAILURE…
HOW I GOT MINE REPLACED FOR FREE (AFTER FIGHTING FOR 2 MONTHS).

I’ve been dealing with the exact same situation with a Crossland X. Mine is five years old with about 50,000 miles on the clock.

It’s completely unfair, stressful, and a disgrace.

After 2 months of persistence and countless back-and-forth with the dealership and Vauxhall Customer Service, I’ve just had confirmation that Vauxhall will fully replace the engine at no cost.

If you’re in a similar situation or have had to pay out of pocket, you might still be able to challenge Vauxhall’s decision.

Based on my experience, cases involving less than 60,000 miles and under 6 years old seem to have strong grounds for resolution. Even if a full service history is missing, there are ways to push back effectively.

While I can’t provide legal advice, I’ve learned a lot from my own case and the approaches that worked for me. If you’d like to know more about how I handled this or share your own experience, feel free to get in touch at the email below.

The more people who share their experiences, the stronger we can be in holding companies like Vauxhall accountable.

Hi both

Just found this thread whilst searching at my wits end!
I had the Oil Pressure Fault: Stop the vehicle error yesterday, being aware of this wetbelt issues I stopped immediately, and today had the car towed to the local Stallantis dealership.

The car is a 2019 (registered in May) Grandland X Turbo, with 40k miles on the clock - so I was hopeful that being inside the 6 years (just!) and under 60k miles I'd be covered by the warranty (I have full service history from Halfords).

However a very aggressive experience in the dealership where I was told that despite having the full service history in the service book, as well as emailed invoices from Halfords this wouldn't be covered under warranty as Halfords aren't an authorised service centre for Vauxhalls, and as such they need to detail part numbers for the oil filters as well as the grade of oil used on the invoices for the service rather than just write them in the service book which I could have forged!

Ive been speaking to halfords to see if they have records can supply details of parts used and oil grades but as it covers the past 3 years I doubt they do...

In summary ive been told to lump it by the dealership - pay the £180 diagnostic fee (+the £80 to get it towed over), if its wet belt then expect to pay £500-600 to take the sump off and see what state its in + any other costs that might arise from there.

I genuinely don't know what to do, I cant really afford all these costs but we've not got great public transport where we live, 2 kids and job myself and my partner are reliant on the car - feel totally stuffed up by Vauxhall / Stallantis and don't understand how they can happily send customers off with a car that will most likely fail at <60k miles

Paul I did drop you an email as any help would be appreciated but thought i'd share my story here too - strength in numbers and all that

Anyone with advice I would very much appreciate it

Thanks
Jack

Just going through same with my grandland. It's only 30 months old and engine light came on so took it too a vauxhall main dealer for warranty work but because I use a independent garage for its service that use vauxhall approved parts vauxhall said that the parts where not good enough so having to pay for new belt and engine clean at nearly £1700.00. My car as only done 15000 miles from new. Complain to vauxhall customer car and got no where .
Any help would be great
But the vauxhall dealership did say if I had my servicing done at a main dealer there wouldn't be an issue
