Has anyone had this fault come up it first came up 25/6 then returned this week. It goes off when I stop the car again for a few minutes. The car had a new ECU earlier this year, when I lifted the bonnet the positive battery connection wasn’t pushed down I fixed it in place and the start stop now works spot on but this warning keeps appearing on and off

I had this when my new battery fitted by my Vauxhall dealer decided to have an internal short and totally shut the car down. They had the car for a week still not able to diagnose the fault, as their master tech said the chances the replacement battery was at fault is slim to none. Eventually I persuaded them to fit my old battery to try. They did this and the car was back to normal again and was able to use it for another 2 weeks until the new battery came from their warehouse. Had it fitted since and stop start works as it was supposed to and haven’t had the eco message come on at all.
I would take this to the dealer if it’s under warranty and ask for a battery test.
Hope this helps

Hi 1666gem
I have the same fault at the moment and was wondering how you got on?

For me it first came up after the car had been sitting on the drive for 10 days while I had covid! My car is out of warranty but I took it in to the local VX dealer who said the fault code was showing a tail light fault but everything was working fine. They needed more time to investigate so I booked it in again 2 weeks later. As I dove off the fault light was off, but came back the following day.

So of to VX dealer again, this time they said the fault code was coming from the after market reversing camera and suggested I took the car to the auto-electric specialist that they recommended fit the camera years ago. I went to drive off but the battery was completely dead. It was a Sunday but the sales cap dug out a jump starter and got me going. The spanner light was off but returned the following day

I booked the AE specialist for 4 weeks later as that was their first available slot, in the intervening time the light had cleared and returned a couple of times and I purchased a 3rd party extended warranty. The AE specialist said that the fault was from the BCM and a stuck relay - though the car works perfectly, and it would need to go back to VX dealer!

In a fit of extravagant rage I bought an AGM battery and got my local jobbing garage to fit it a clear the codes. The fault light came back immediately and the codes read BCM ignition relay stuck closed, starter relay stuck open and ECU software update needed!. I booked the car into a larger branch of the same VX dealer for 4 weeks time (first available slot) and made some coffee. Whilst drinking said coffee I remembered the extended warranty and phoned their help desk. They are sending someone to collect my car to have a look on Monday. In the meantime I thought I might do a map update, it won't fix it but I just feel that I have to do SOMETHING! 21 minutes left for the down load.

Hi Guys ,I have the same problem as this, a while back my garage checked my battery condition as my Stop/Start wasn't always working and had the battery disconnected, he told me that the tester was showing that the battery was getting a bit worn (this isn't a technical term) but when he connected the battery back up the engine turned over but would not start, after another mechanic came out and went through a load of faults and resets the engine fired up ok and the car seemed to be running fine but I did notice that the Stop /Start was only working now and again. About a month ago during the really hot weather that we had the "Electrical Circuit fault" came back on the next morning I was going to take it to my local garage but found the fault gone then the next day it came back, cut a long story short I took it to the garage with the fault still on it and the mechanic again said that there was a lot of electrical faults coming up on the computers and it looked like the battery was giving up he fitted a Bosch battery and when he went to start the engine it would not start again he went through the fault list and done resets etc and got the car going but the Electrical Circuit Fault, spanner light and the bleeping when switching the car on are still there. Please can any one pin point the problem. As a footnote my local garage Sandmill Mot Centre Limited hasn't charged me yet and told me to run the car for a week or two before paying for it.

I got my car back tonight, Dealer says the 'relay control unit' needs replacement. It is in stock in Luton and car booked in again on Tuesday for it to be fitted. Dealer claims to be 99% confident that this will fix it as they have had this issue before and apparently this worked. Vauxhall HQ have agreed to fund 30% of the cost (it is out of warranty). to be honest I just want it fixed!

Some weeks after my last post and I thought a little update might be called for. The wrong part arrived from Luton (or was ordered) and the correct part is not in stock in UK. The dealer has ordered it but the system is not showing any estimate of when it might arrive, in the meantime they managed to keep the spanner light off (or wore a pair of very dark sunglasses long enough for it to pass an MOT. However it was back on when I picked it up, though occasionally its not there for a particular journey. I'll let you know if and when the Part arrives
