Was my wet belt. I just paid £695 to have it done privately, I didn’t have the energy to fit to get it fixed by Vauxhall or the wait without my car. Found a local garage who had experience and does a couple a month 😩

Looks like this wasn't an official recall, but more a recommendation to dealers that they book in a wet belt replacement. I'm trying to find the paperwork from when mine was done last year, but from memory they booked this in at the same I had it serviced so I'm not sure they would have flagged it to me otherwise.

Hi. I am experiencing the same issue with the went bt and facing bill of £1600. Does anyone have a template of the email sent to Vauxhall customer service.
Thanks in advance.

I’ve been dealing with the exact same situation with a Crossland X. Mine is five years old with about 50,000 miles on the clock.

It’s completely unfair, stressful and a disgrace.

I’ve been arguing my case through the dealership, who escalated it to Vauxhall Customer Service. After two months of persistence, I’ve just had confirmation that Vauxhall will fully replace the engine.

If anyone is still in the same boat or resolved the issue but had to contribute financially or have been out of pocket in any way, it’s important to know that Vauxhall can still be held accountable. There is a solid, 100% concrete argument against their position if it’s less than 60,000 miles on the clock and less than 6 years old. Even a lack of servicing (often a reason to reject a claim) is not a barrier to getting them to fully replace the engine free of charge.

Let me know via the email below if you would like any more information and happy to help.

VAUXHALL CROSSLAND X ENGINE FAILURE…
HOW I GOT MINE REPLACED FOR FREE (AFTER FIGHTING FOR 2 MONTHS).

I’ve been dealing with the exact same situation with a Crossland X. Mine is five years old with about 50,000 miles on the clock.

It’s completely unfair, stressful, and a disgrace.

After 2 months of persistence and countless back-and-forth with the dealership and Vauxhall Customer Service, I’ve just had confirmation that Vauxhall will fully replace the engine at no cost.

If you’re in a similar situation or have had to pay out of pocket, you might still be able to challenge Vauxhall’s decision.

Based on my experience, cases involving less than 60,000 miles and under 6 years old seem to have strong grounds for resolution. Even if a full service history is missing, there are ways to push back effectively.

While I can’t provide legal advice, I’ve learned a lot from my own case and the approaches that worked for me. If you’d like to know more about how I handled this or share your own experience, feel free to get in touch at the email below.

The more people who share their experiences, the stronger we can be in holding companies like Vauxhall accountable.
