My belt was replaced roughly 24,000 Miles ago at 50,000* in 4th February 2022 by the previous owner, and already has slight cracks, if advised to replace I'm hounding Vauxhall about it and if they won't cover it I'll hound my warranty as the part is failing well short of 6 Years or 64,000 miles.
You can replace the belt before it snaps and clean out the oil sump every 24k-36 miles, BUT you can't stop the fibres shedding around the engine as it wears, Do these fibres end up getting and clogging places you cant clean beyond the sump, and do they cause the engines to have long-term issues making them inevitably fail regardless if you replace the belt every 30k miles or whatever is has to be?

Does the wet belt issue get resolved after being replaced, or does the other Oil actually make a difference?
My 2019 Grandland x belt was replaced roughly 24,000 Miles ago, at 50,000* miles on the 4th of February 2022 by the previous owner, It's now 74,000 miles and already has slight cracks, My service is due now and I've asked them to check the belt, and if advised to replace I'm hounding Vauxhall about it as the part is failing well short of the expected range, 6 Years or 64,000 miles.
But at the end of the day, if Vauxhall is only covering cars up to 6 years and or 100,000 miles, and regardless of the oil used, if it will need a new £1,000+ belt installed every 24k-36k miles I'm getting rid of the car, it's not worth the hassle at all.

Just to add this.
A wonderful and honest lady at my local Vauxhall dealer, told me that as long as you've had the right service history, She said through Vauxhall and including Indie garages, and have had the correct parts Approved or Genuine I assume fitted with proof and history, Having the Vauxhall stamps must help I'm sure, that Vauxhall has replaced "Under this new policy" a number of belts, meaning probably a lot at their own cost.
Apparently, the new Belt has been super seeded, and new oil, which might be the 0w20 mentioned (Not such as thick oil) which might help it last longer.
My belt was replaced 19,000 miles ago and already has cracks, but I'm not sure what oil or belt was used, but will update if I find out.

My husband bought a 2019 Vauxhall Grandland X Business edition petrol engine last July 2023.
The car has done just over 30,000 miles and had a wet belt issue. Vauxhall undertook to fit a brand new engine as this one was completely blocked with bits of rubber! We were without a car for 6 weeks. We’ve had it back now for just a few weeks and all seemed to be well until 2 days ago when the oil pressure warning light came on and the car started juddering.
We drove back home as we had only gone about 100 yards up the road.
What on earth can the problem be now?!!
My husband will take it to our Vauxhall main dealership after the bank holiday but can anyone think what has happened?
We are very worried and completely fed up with all the hassle this car has given us!

Hi
We have had a problem with our Grandland , They said they would fix it but only offered 50% towards the cost , did they pay for all your new engine ?

Hi, yes Vauxhall paid the full cost to replace the engine. They had to order it from Germany so it was in the garage for 6 weeks. I think the wet belt issue which ours suffered from is a known manufacturing defect so I guess that’s why they paid.
Do you think yours is a wet belt issue? Do you get the oil pressure warning light come on?

Hi there,
Joining with the same problem - car cut out on the motorway on Sunday travelling 70mph with my 2 young children in the car very scary experience. My car is under 6 years old and under 30,000 miles! A local mechanic has confirmed its wet belt, but Vauxhall customer care have insisted this is diagnosed by a Vaxuahll dealership. I have booked it in tomorrow to get a diagnostic test.
I am the second owner on the car and there is a service missing from 2019 before I owned the vehicle. Since my ownership. all services have been completed at the correct intervals and the right oil has been used (0-30).
Do you think i will encounter a problem with one missing service since before my ownership? I will fight Vauxhall against this as i can't see how i can be penalised for this! But wanted to check if anyone had a similar experience.
Thank you!

My vehicle just went into service, I was just advised by Vauxall that yes, it needs replacing. (price is £0.00 because I have yet to quote for it)
I have no idea why anyone would want to buy a car that every 24k miles you need to spend £800+ to get the belt changed... That's because we all bought cars with an expectation to replace them every 63,000 at least.
My car has been left at Vauxhall and have contacted Customer Support 0800 026 0034.
My belt was already replaced roughly 24,000 Miles ago at 50,000* on 4th February 2022 by the previous owner, funny enough the woman on the phone said they should be replaced every 24,000 miles which I said it should be 63,000, she didn't really have a response to it but their terms for belt replacements have obviously changed.I have no idea why anyone would want to buy a car that every 24k miles you need to spend £800+ to get the belt changed...
