Re: Wet timing belt disintegrated, new engine required outside warranty

Hi all, had my Grandland X for five years ( 41000miles) this month so thinking of replacing the wet cambelt. As part of the cambelt change should they also change the water pump plus belts as well. Am based in France and uk main dealer quoting £650+ with local main Opel dealer here quoting approx £3...

Re: Wet timing belt disintegrated, new engine required outside warranty

Apologies for the delay reference engine oil but have been working away. Anyway, as originally stated the main dealer put 05/30 fully synthetic. Had the car serviced this week and asked the local garage to double check and he had confirmed that it is now 0/30. Just to ensure it is correct I contacte...

Re: Adjustable boot floor?

Morning 1586, on my Grandland X with 19" wheels I have a full size alloy and tyre and it lays under the removable floor at its highest level. Trust it answers your question. Enjoy the ride.

Re: Tyre pressures

Hi fellow Grandlanders, on my 1.2 Elite I run on 19 inch wheels with 32 psi normally but it all depends on weight and conditions. Also have just had new Continental Contisport tyres fitted all round i.e. like for like. The existing tyres have done circa 25000 miles which is not too bad. Anyway I thi...

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here!

Hi Robbie75, I also was a private hire driver doing similar 50000miles annually. Most of my trips were up to Heathrow and return, a 200 mile plus round trip. I would stick with main dealer annual service together with regular oil change at shorter intervals depending on your mileage of course. The G...

Re: Replacement Tyres

That makes sense to swap tyres around and you still have a good few miles before changing. So important good quality tyres. Keeps the car safely on the straight and narrow. Thanks again. Enjoy the ride.

Re: Replacement Tyres

Hi Tony, thanks for the tyre info. I have used Michelins on various saloons before and I was pleased with them. I’m shopping around at the moment and will see what deals are available. What mileage have you got from your Michelins? Thanks again. Safe motoring.

Replacement Tyres

Hi Grandlanders, I’m driving and enjoying my 2019 GX Auto Elite 1.2 petrol on ContiSportContacts. 235/50 R 19 V tyres but after approx. 24000 miles am possibly looking to replace tyres some time in the near future and would appreciate any comments and advice as to which brand or type of tyre to go f...

Poss catalytic pong

Morning Grandlanders, a bit of a weird question but on returning to the car after a running an errand, sometimes there is distinct whiff or smell inside the car, similar to curry/garlic possibly from the cat. converter? I have checked the obvious of any foodstuff, shopping etc. left in the car. I ha...

Re: Wet timing belt disintegrated, new engine required outside warranty

Hi Phil, that’s an interesting posts and many thanks. Hopefully it will helpful to us all with reference to the wet timing belt issue. I have a 1.2 Auto Grandland X that was first registered in January 2019 but have no idea when it was built. Does anyone know how to determine the actual build date o...
